Natural Talent

December 2017 · Portrait

I found her in a village while photographing in Yuan Yang. She was leaning against the gate, watching people come and go. When I noticed her, I sensed that she saw me too.

She was not timid around strangers. Perhaps she was used to seeing tourists appearing in the village.

I pointed the camera at her, smiled, and asked, "Can I take a picture of you?"

She nodded and did not say anything.

As I pressed the shutter, I noticed that she could strike a variety of poses and had a natural expression, much like a professional model.

She was very talented.

I showed her what I had taken. She nodded, obviously not very bothered, and acted like a seasoned model.

“What do you think of her expression? Did she look natural to you?”

I guess I was not the first photographer to take pictures of her. She seemed to be used to it.

Anyway, I still like the work.

What do you think of her expression? Did she look natural to you?
