The Path Less Taken

In May 2005, Malaysia entered the dry season. Usually, when I turned on the tap, water would flow. But now, only the "hisss..." sound could be heard. The water seemed to stretch a thousand miles away; only the sound reached here, not a drop came out. The situation was quite helpless.

After a long drought without rain, the authorities were forced to implement water control.

One day, I turned on the faucet, thinking that no water would come out. What I did not expect was that the water rushed out like a fountain, fast and furious. Finally, the normal water supply had resumed.

When I reached under the faucet to wash my hands, a picture came to my mind that would not go away.

I decided to bring that image to life.

I went to visit a plumber and borrowed an old faucet from him.

I painted my hand white, set the timer, and started shooting.

How did the water defy gravity and flow upwards? How did it gush out with a crash, only to come to a screeching halt?
