Swirling Seduction

In any field of creation, there is always a bottleneck. When the artist runs out of ideas, or cannot get out of a rut, it is like a bird trapped in a cage.

At this time, the artist needs some external inspiration to open the cage and let creativity regain its freedom. Inspiration is like the wings of creativity.

After shooting still life for a while, I was stuck in a bottleneck, thinking about it in vain. One day, a friend handed something to me. I heard him say, "You might as well shoot this."

I opened my palm and saw it there: a blue marble, crystal clear and beautiful. The azure colour immediately reminded me of the sea, the sky, and even the blue planet we live on. I was inspired. The marble in my palm seemed to be emitting light; the flame of creativity had been reignited.

Photography

I took out a piece of twine, coiled it into a circle, and stuck it inside a thick book. While waiting for the twine to take shape, I prepared the rest of the shoot.

I made the base from a piece of blue plastic, washed and polished to avoid fingerprints and dust.

I hung a white sheet of plastic in the window and added blue lantern paper on one side so that the light would be soft while creating a bluish tone.

I opened the book and took out the twine, which had already taken shape. When I held one end of the rope, it popped open like a spring.

I set up the tripod and tied the twine with a rubber ring to a crossbar. The coil gradually sprang out.

I polished the marble, stuck it to the base, and then moved the base below the twine.

I put on a polarizing filter and a cold 80A filter. When I looked through the viewfinder, I knew I had found the ideal composition.

It was a rather interesting and thought-provoking scene, I must say. The spiral of twine was like an endless journey swirling down from the heavens, only to find the flawless marble. The azure blue background added to the mystery.
