Omnipotence

The model in the picture would be over 100 years old if she were alive. She was not a professional model; she owned a small stall selling traditional snacks. The old lady treated me very well. Whenever I went to the stall for breakfast, she often gave me an extra egg or some snacks at no extra charge. She openly told the customers that I was her grandson.

I paid attention to the granny's hands every time. Her wrinkled hands were full of charm to me. Once, when she was pouring coffee, this image broke into my mind like a wave through my eyes.

I could not resist and told her how I felt. She laughed out loud. I then said, "Why don't we just photograph the idea?"

"Sure!" She winked at me like a child.

I drove her to my studio and started shooting immediately.

She said she was very uncomfortable with the flash, and that posing for this was more tiring than making tea. I laughed. I knew I had to complete the mission as quickly as possible.

The composition has won many awards around the globe.

I told the granny that her hands, with magic powers, had enchanted many judges.

She listened, then stroked my head lovingly and smiled without saying anything.

This piece was aptly named "Omnipotence".

“Why don't we just photograph the idea?”

I just learned about the demise of my beloved model in the picture.

She passed away in her sleep on 20 April 2009.

Foolish of me to learn it only today.

I should have known when I had not seen her in recent months.

She was 92.

According to her daughter, she had complained of a fever and visited the doctor twice. Nothing seemed unusual. On the night of her passing, she told her daughter she was very tired and needed to lie down. Then, to everyone's surprise, she went peacefully around midnight without anyone knowing.
